Leibniz - DAAD fellowships offer highly-qualified, international postdoctoral researchers, who have recently completed their doctoral studies, the opportunity to conduct research at a Leibniz Institute of their choice in Germany.

Fellowships can be awarded for 12 months and include:

  • a monthly instalment of € 2,000,
  • a combined health, accident and personal liability insurance as well as long-term care insurance in Germany,
  • a research allowance of € 460 per annum and
  • a two months German language course in Germany (if desired).

Job description:

Assist the ICC IT manager in porting websites from Drupal 6 to 7 using the Migrate module and creating new sites in Drupal 7, as well as in other IT related tasks such as maintenance of Linux servers and the internal network.

Required skills:

  • Excellent proficiency of English and German in writing and speaking.
  • Experience in Linux server administration via SSH, especially in CentOS 6/7 or equivalent for secure Web hosting.
  • Knowledge of PHP (5.4+) and MySQL/MariaDB.
  • Own PHP code should be written cleanly.
  • Proficient in building and maintaining websites with Drupal 6 and 7, focussed on larger sites with role-based access. In particular, good knowledge in creating user-friendly node types with fields using Field modules and displaying content of the resulting nodes via tables generated by Views modules.
  • Preference in using open-source software and standards compliant technologies on the Web, including HTML5.
  • Ability to work flawlessly and independently on Windows (7+) work stations.

Our Scientific Business Development Representative (SBDR) will develop and maintain effective customer relations, liaise with the Technical Support and Sales & Marketing teams to support customers through provision of information specific to their industry, including technical information, product recommendations for customer applications and coordinating technical workshops and product demonstrations. The opportunity is open to newly qualified doctors (for no more than seven years) and a successful research track in fruit biochemistry and physiology, preferably with field experiments background, that will be carried out to obtain samples in plots surrounded or not by the Atlantic forest.
 
Molecular characterization of bacterial communities will be performed from the isolation of bacterial DNA and sequencing high-throughput of 16S rRNA.

Invitation to apply for a 2-year Post-Doc position in the field of Food Science and Nutrition at the laboratory for Science and Technology of Milk and Egg in Rennes (France) within the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and Agrocampus Ouest.

This Post-Doc project aims at understanding the mechanisms of dairy gels disintegration in the stomach and determining how the structure of the gels impacts the kinetics of nutrient bioavailability. It will consist in the:

  • design of dairy gels with varied structures
  • multi-scale characterization of the structure of digested and undigested food with the use of equipment such as synchrotron facilities, confocal and electronic microscopy, particle tracking analysis...
  • in vitro digestion using relevant dynamic digestion models. We will particularly focus on the proteolysis kinetics by pepsine.
  • in vivo experiments on multi-canulated and catheterized pigs to assess the bioaccessibility and bioavailability of nutriments.

The project will include a strong cooperation with several labs in France, UK and USA.

Encouraged are candidates with a PhD in Food Science and/or Nutrition, if possible with an experience in food digestion. Applicants should be fluent in speaking and writing English. Basic knowledge of French would be appreciated.

Duration: 24 months, starting from March or April 2015
Net salary: ~ 1900 €/month
